提高竹木乐器音质的竹木材料加工法

千百年来,人们在制作以竹筒或木材为共鸣箱的乐器(简称竹木乐器)时,对制作共鸣箱的材料,除因干燥或因造型的需要对其进行过加工外,其余都没有进行过什么加工。比如:《音乐知识手册》第一集第414页载文,制作小提琴时,“所选用木料,都经过一、二百年完全干燥后,才用以制琴。”这样的木材,其振动发声和传播音响的性能都比较差,因此,所造出的竹木乐器,存在以下四个缺点:第一、共鸣声较小,音质相差悬殊,音质高档的极为稀少,估计不到其总数的百分之一;第二、用同种竹木材料不能造出音质档次相同的琴。如小提琴,其共鸣箱是用云杉、枫木制作的,但音质相差非常悬殊,红木二胡、京胡等亦是如此;第三、红木乐器、檀木乐器价格太昂贵,且音质高档的也不过占其总数的百分之一、二;第四、过去制作的竹木乐器,在刚制作完毕时,其音量和音质都比较差,须经数年后,其音质才能纯净些,音量也才能大一些。

本加工法分为A、B两类,有以下五个优点:第一、本加工法能使竹木材料具有优良的振动发声和传播音响的性能。因此,这种竹木材料最适宜制作竹木乐器的共鸣箱。第二、本加工法能最大限度地提高竹木乐器的音质和增大共鸣声,A类加工法能保证同种竹木材料经加工后都能造出音质档次相同的琴。比如,凡是红木都能造出音质高档的二胡,凡是云杉都能造出音质高档的小提琴和大提琴。第三、采用本加工法制造的竹木乐器,一经制作完毕,就能使其发出的声音达到最佳状态。第四、B类加工法能将一般的木材加工后,替代红木、檀木等,造出音质高档的乐器,故称为人造“红木”加工法;第五、加工方法简单,成本极低。比如,每把售价数十万美元乃至上百万美元的小提琴,若采用本加工法来制造,其造价也只需数千元人民币。两类加工过程各约需二十天,但累记操作时间仅需数小时,而且无毒无害无污染,操作简便。所需药品价格低廉,容易采购。所需设备比较简单,经加工后的竹木材料不影响粘接和上漆等。

这必将是竹木乐器制造史上的一大变革!

希望不久的将来,地球上的竹木乐器,都能采用本加工法来制造,使它们的音质得到最大限度的改善。

The processing methods of increasing the tone quality of bamboo and wood instruments

For thousands of years, when people make musical instruments which are made of bamboo and wood, they have done nothing with the material of resonator except for the need of dry or model.

For example, when people made the violin, "they use the wood materials which were through completely dry one or two-hundred years. (On the page of 414 of "The Manual of Music knowledge (Book on)")

Such bamboo and wood material, its oscillation sound and performance of propagating acoustics were not very good. So this kind of bamboo and wood instrument have three shortcomings below:

Fist, its resonance sound is little. And its tone quality is quite different. The bamboo and wood instrument with top grade of tone quality are scarce. It was estimated that can't reach one hundredth of its total.

Second, the same tone quality of Qin (the name of a kind of musical instrument) can' t be made of the same kinds of bamboo and wood material. Such as the jinhu, which is made of Nan bamboo. But its tone quality was quite different. And pad auks erhu (Chinese two-stringed musical instrument) and the violins were the same.

Third, the bamboo and wood instrument that people made in the past, its sound volume and tone quality were not very good when it was just finished. Only when it through many years, its tone quality can be changed purer and its sound volume can get bigger.

The advantage of this processing method:

First, it can make bamboo and wood material have excellent performance of oscillation sound and propagate acoustics. So this kind of bamboo and wood material is the best for making into resonate trunk.

Second, this method can not only increase the tone quality and the resonate sound, but also can guarantee that we can use the same kinds of bamboo to made the same grade instruments. For example, all mahogany or spruces can be made into the top grade erhus or the violins and cellos.

Third, if we use this method, the sound of the bamboo wood instruments which are just finished can reach the optimum condition.

Forth, the processing method is simple and convenient. Its production cost is low. It takes about 20 days to complete the whole course. And it is non-poisonous, harmless and non-polluted. It costs 20 yuan to process a erhu resonate trunk. And processing a violin needs 40 yuan. Those violins which are cost one hundred thousand even more than one million dollars only cost hundreds yuan. if we use this method.

It must be a great change of the making history of bamboo and instrument.
